Cambridgeshire-based plastics recycler Plasgran has announced the launch of a municipal services division – which will include wheeled-bin collection and distribution for manufacturers, local authorities and waste companies.

Plasgran, which already processes end-of-life wheeled bins at its Wimblington facility, will offer a range of services through the new division. This will include the on-street delivery of new plastic containers and collection of end-of-life bins on behalf of container manufacturers and local authorities.

Once collected, the company can process the old containers to produce an HDPE regrind or compound product, which can be used in the manufacture of new containers.

David Barber and John Exley, both formerly of CK Services will head the new division.

‘Growth’

Plasgran managing director, Mark Roberts said, “We are delighted to bring on board this new capability, which further enhances our complete offering to our customer and supplier base. The experience in this area that David and John bring is invaluable and will ensure that the quality of service our customers receive will be second to none.

“This latest venture is part of a long-term plan to grow the business and position ourselves as the foremost recycler of plastics in the country, allowing us to offer a very wide range of services from waste collection, through high quality regrind sales to highly technical compounds for demanding applications. It is our mission to provide the best quality, specified and quality controlled range of recycled materials and services to the plastics industry.”

In May, the company announced a £1.7 million investment in an EREMA compounding system to double the compounding capacity at its Wimblington plant (see letsrecycle.com story).

Materials handled at the Wimblington plant include high-density polyethylene (HDPE), high impact polystyrene (HIPs) and poly-propylene (PP) from both post-consumer and post-industrial sources. Plasgran has been trading since 1999.
